APPLICATIONS

SSUCHY-Next will scale up hemp fibre production and develop new bio-based resins: bio-based acrylic polymer ‘Elium®’ with very high bio-content, fully bio-based benzoxazine, and fully bio-based BG-epoxy; for the sustainable composites. These bio-based composites will serve as basis for demonstrations to be developed at TRL7 in the framework of the project including wind turbine blades, structural building elements, bulk mould compounded parts like façade panels

From hemp fields and bio-based resin precursors to fully bio-based composites and beyond!

Construction

For construction applications, composites are mostly used in structural elements like beams, columns, and cladding panels. In SSUCHY-Next, the range of applications will be extended to bulk mould compounded parts like facade panels. Also, structural beams of stacked wood veneer will be further developed.

Wind energy

SSUCHY-Next will produce a 12.6-meter-long wind turbine blade as demonstrator, to show the benefits in environmental performance and end-of-life when using the hemp fibre bio-based composites.
