France

UBFC is a group of institutions of the Bourgogne Franche-Comté (BFC) region fulfilling a dual mission of higher education and research across various scientific fields. The group includes, among others:

  • UFC – University of Franche‐Comté, a French multi-disciplinary university founded in 1423, comprising 28 research units with expertise ranging from environmental and health sciences, human and social sciences, to engineering sciences.
  • SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM – École nationale supérieure de mécanique et des microtechniques (ENSMM), a public higher education and research institute that trains multidisciplinary engineers with a strong focus on mechatronics and microsystems.

Research activities are conducted within joint research laboratories. The researchers involved in SSUCHY-Next project are part of the FEMTO-ST Intstitue which integrates departments specializing in mechanics, materials science, mechatronics, electronics, acoustics, opto-electronics, energy, and time-frequency systems.

Main task(s) in SSUCHY-Next

In SSUCHY-Next, UBFC, UFC and ENSMM will bring their expertise in the mechanical behaviour (static, fatigue, vibratory…) of plant fibres and their composites. UFC will also leverage the findings and expertise gathered from coordinating the previous BBI-JU SSUCHY project and will coordinate and contribute to the activities related to the wood-based composites and products developed by Woodoo.
